Description
A traditional Greek savory pie made with layers of crispy phyllo dough, filled with spinach and feta cheese.
Ingredients

- 500g fresh spinach, washed and chopped
- 200g feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 10 sheets phyllo dough
- 1/4 cup melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Sauté the onion in olive oil until soft.
- Add the spinach and cook until wilted.
- Remove from heat and mix in feta, eggs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Brush a baking dish with melted butter.
- Layer 5 sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each with butter.
- Spread the spinach mixture evenly over the phyllo.
- Top with remaining phyllo sheets, buttering each layer.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- You can use frozen spinach if fresh isn’t available.
- Phyllo dough dries out quickly, keep it covered with a damp towel.
- Let the pie rest for 10 minutes before cutting.
